Job summary

HTS Engineering Ltd. is the largest independent commercial HVAC manufacturers’ rep in North America, with 20 locations in the US and Canada.

The Start-Up Technician will assist with installation, start-up, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of various commercial HVAC systems at on-site projects. Strong technical skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced construction environment are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant commercial HVAC experience.
• Strong understanding of refrigeration principles, system operations, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Familiarity with chilled water, hot water systems, and boiler operations.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to access equipment on ladders, lifts, or rooftops and lift heavy equipment.
• Must be able to pass a full background screening including criminal background, drug test, driving record, and physical ability test.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, start-up, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of various commercial HVAC systems.
• Work independently or as part of a team in a commercial construction environment.
• Perform system start-ups, observe operation, and interpret gauges and instruments to ensure proper functionality.
• Adjust valves, controls, and pumps to regulate fluid levels, pressure, and system temperatures.
• Diagnose, service, and repair DX equipment, water source heat pumps, gas-fired and electric heating systems, and DX air conditioning.
• Conduct preventive maintenance: clean coils, fans, ductwork, replace air filters, and assess system performance.

Responsibilities

• 1 Start -Up Technician, HVAC Job Overview : The Construction Start -Up Technician will be responsible for assisting with the installation, start -up, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of various commercial HVAC systems
• This role requires strong technical skills, troubleshooting expertise, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a commercial construction environment
• Perform system start -ups, observe operation, and interpret gauges and instruments to ensure proper functionality
• Adjust mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to regulate fluid levels, pressure, and system temperatures
• Diagnose, service, and repair a variety of commercial HVAC equipment, including:
• DX equipment
• Water source heat pumps
• Gas-fired and electric heating systems
• Direct expansion (DX) air conditioning systems
• Low-voltage temperature control systems
• Air handling equipment and duct systems
• Hydronic cooling and heating systems
• Chilled and hot water systems and boilers
• Conduct preventive maintenance, including cleaning condenser and evaporator coils, fans, and ductwork, and replacing air filters
• Identify and replace defective or worn parts to maintain proper system operation
• Assist with air balancing and assess static pressure in HVAC systems
