IPTS is recruiting a Start Up Operator for a growing venture capital platform investing across emerging and frontier technologies.

Our client's firm is evolving from a relatively concentrated fund structure into a broader multi-fund investment platform and is looking for a high-caliber operator to help build and run the operating system behind that growth.

This is not a traditional Chief of Staff role, a pure fund-operations position, or a relationship-only investor relations role. It is a hands-on, cross-functional operating role spanning fundraising and investor relations, fund operations, financial operations, marketing operations, planning, budgeting, vendors, reporting, and firm-wide execution.

The right person will bring strong private-capital or financial-services fluency, operate comfortably with senior investors and institutional LPs, and create structure without adding unnecessary bureaucracy to a lean team.

What You’ll Own

Operating Cadence & Cross-Functional Execution

• Run planning, execution, meeting, follow-up, retrospective, and reporting cadences across the firm.


• Translate leadership priorities into clear workstreams with owners, timelines, resources, and measurable outcomes.


• Maintain visibility into commitments, priorities, capacity, and execution health across multiple concurrent initiatives.


• Identify risks, bottlenecks, and cross-functional dependencies early and drive them to resolution.


• Coordinate across fundraising, investor relations, marketing, finance, legal/compliance, and business operations without relying on formal authority.

Fund & Investor Operations

• Support the operational backbone of a growing multi-fund investment platform.


• Work across fund launches, fundraising processes, post-close activities, fund administration, LP reporting, and other fund-lifecycle processes.


• Support institutional LP and investor interactions with the precision and professionalism expected in private capital.


• Help build fundraising and LP-outreach processes that use GP and senior leadership time efficiently.


• Coordinate with fund administrators, legal counsel, compliance providers, and other external partners.

Financial & Business Operations

• Own or support budgeting, expense management, spend visibility, and variance tracking across programs and functions.


• Surface financial or operational drift before it becomes a material issue.


• Coordinate vendors, contractors, and other operating partners.


• Support fund audits and related financial or compliance processes.


• Build lightweight reporting and metrics that give leadership a clear view of business and execution health.


• Coordinate execution across marketing, fundraising, investor relations, events, and related external initiatives.


• Ensure programs are delivered on time, on budget, and with clear single-threaded ownership.


• Step directly into operational gaps when a workstream needs a hands-on owner rather than another layer of coordination.

Systems & Infrastructure

• Build durable, low-friction systems for planning, tracking, reporting, and accountability.


• Maintain high standards around CRM, LP data, reporting integrity, and operational tooling.


• Work with platforms such as Affinity, HubSpot, or comparable CRM and LP-data systems.


• Use data, automation, and AI tools intelligently to increase operating leverage without sacrificing judgment or accuracy.

What We’re Looking For

• Significant experience in venture capital, private equity, private capital, financial services, or a closely related institutional investment environment.


• Strong understanding of private-capital fund structures, fundraising cycles, LP expectations, fund administration, compliance, and reporting.


• Direct external-facing experience with LPs, institutional investors, GPs, or other sophisticated financial stakeholders.


• Experience spanning several of the following:


• Fund operations


• Financial operations


• Budgeting and expense management


• Marketing operations


• Compliance


• Cross-functional program management


• Evidence of building operating systems or processes in ambiguous, early-stage, high-growth, or rapidly changing environments.


• Strong analytical and financial judgment, including comfort with financial statements, modeling, budgets, metrics, and operating data.


• Exceptional written and verbal communication with the ability to produce work credible to GPs, executives, and institutional investors.


• Ability to manage several urgent workstreams simultaneously and intelligently change priorities as circumstances evolve.


• High degree of autonomy, maturity, judgment, discretion, and attention to detail.


• Comfortable acting as an execution partner to senior leadership and representing them in meetings without requiring close supervision.

Particularly Relevant Backgrounds

We are especially interested in candidates who have combined institutional training with entrepreneurial operating experience. For example, someone who began their career at a high-caliber financial institution, private-capital firm, investment bank, asset manager, or similar environment and later moved into a smaller investment platform or high-growth business where they owned broad execution.

Experience in a multi-fund VC or private-capital platform, fund-operations team, crypto venture firm, deep-tech investor, or frontier-technology investment business is a plus.
