Job summary

SpaceX in Starbase, TX seeks a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Operations (Starship) to lead production engineering initiatives. You will design and upgrade capital equipment, optimize material flow, and standardize processes across multiple production disciplines.

You will drive throughput, reduce build hours, and mentor teams while collaborating with Production, Engineering, Test, Materials, Quality, and Supply Chain to meet ambitious targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, industrial, or other engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of professional experience in production engineering, manufacturing, or industrial project management.

Responsibilities

• Identify, design, plan, and execute capital equipment, machine, building/infrastructure upgrades to meet production demand.
• Drive improvements to increase production throughput and reduce build hours and waste.
• Act as subject matter expert in Starship production processes for data gathering and problem solving.
• Develop site design plans to meet production rate targets, including layouts and material flow analyses.
• Define new business processes for high-volume production, including MES, inventory management, and configuration control.
• Train technicians and engineers on best-in-class operations practices and lead improvement workshops.
• Present findings and project status to program leadership.
