Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA seeks a Sourcing Specialist, Mechanical (Starship) to own procurement of mechanical hardware for development and production. You will manage sourcing across precision machined components, heat treat, coatings, forgings, and castings, aligning with specs, costs and schedules.

You’ll interpret drawings, forecast demand, track supplier performance, and coordinate design changes with suppliers to maintain supply continuity and quality. Travel up to 50% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, supply chain, or related field.
• Experience with sourcing, procurement, or purchasing is preferred.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage sourcing activities across precision machined components, heat treat, coatings, forgings, castings, and other complex parts.
• Quote, negotiate, and place purchase orders ensuring specs, cost targets, and delivery schedules.
• Forecast demand, evaluate supplier capacity, and manage POs to support schedules.
• Track supplier performance metrics and drive improvements.
• Interpret engineering drawings to align sourcing with capable suppliers.
• Coordinate design changes with supply base to minimize downtime.
