Job summary

SpaceX in Starbase, Texas is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer, Supply Chain (Starship) to lead the supplier side of complex fabrication and assembly processes for rocket components.

You will own NPI, drive manufacturability, select suppliers, define processes to ramp to rate, and close gaps with root-cause resolution. This role requires hands-on manufacturing experience and the ability to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• 1+ years of manufacturing or inspection experience in a production environment.
• Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and supplier qualification.
• Strong knowledge of propulsion/fluid systems and fabrication processes.
• Experience with ISO 9000/TS/AS9100/NADCAP quality systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical contact for assigned parts and assemblies, solving challenges at suppliers and mitigating risk to the manifest.
• Own the new product introduction of new rocket assemblies, determining ideal manufacturing methods, identifying suppliers, and ramping to rate.
• Conduct DFM reviews to ensure manufacturability at early stages, preferably before sourcing.
• Work with procurement to find exceptional suppliers and vet them for quality and takt times.
• Create and develop specifications to flow down quality and manufacturing requirements to the supply base.
• Scope out new forming, cutting, and inspection technologies and suppliers to improve rate/quality/efficiency.
• Review issues on parts and solve to root cause, drive containment and re-source as needed.
• Create and disposition issue tickets with engineering for re-work or use-as-is disposition.
• Become primary contact for supply chain related defects on your parts.
• Demonstrate innovation and technical excellence, pushing the envelope.
• Lead containment activities with cross-functional counterparts.
