Job summary

SpaceX in Redmond, WA is seeking a GNC Engineer - Embedded Controls for Starlink. You will apply dynamics and closed-loop control expertise to point satellites, develop simulations, and implement flight software.

Responsibilities include designing attitude control systems, developing high-fidelity simulations (C++, Python, MATLAB), and deploying production software while collaborating across hardware and software teams. A strong background in aerospace and spacecraft operations is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, physics or an engineering discipline.
• Software development experience in C++.
• Experience with design and analysis of closed loop control systems.
• Master's degree or PhD in physics or an engineering discipline.
• Strong expertise in linear closed loop controls analysis and design, including state space and frequency domain methods.
• Experience with state estimation and Kalman filters.
• Direct experience with spacecraft operations and flight software development.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced startup atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement electromechanical control systems such as solar array actuators and antenna gimbals.
• Design, analysis, implementation of satellite attitude control and momentum management systems.
• Develop high fidelity simulations using C++, Python, MATLAB and integrate into analysis tools.
• Implement, validate, unit test, and deploy production software (C++) for described systems.
• Provide engineering and data review support for hardware development and fleet performance.
