Job summary

Food City is seeking an experienced manager to lead the Starbucks department, driving sales, controlling costs, and ensuring top-quality service. You will supervise, train, and develop associates, maintain quality and freshness of products, and uphold safety and hygiene standards while delivering an exceptional customer experience.

You will oversee staffing, scheduling, and merchandising, coordinate with store leadership, and implement programs to grow department performance and customer

Qualifications

  • 18 years or older.
  • High School graduate, college preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience in retail and/or Starbucks operations, 1 year as assistant manager.
  • Knowledge of mixing Starbucks coffee and tea products.
  • Knowledge of the ingredients used in products.
  • Experience with Starbucks ingredients including coffees, teas, spices, nuts, flavorings, sauces, oils.
  • Leadership, employee and customer relations training helpful.
  • Completion of Starbucks All Store Training program.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions and interact with various levels daily.
  • Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize sales and profitability by controlling product loss and promoting sales.
  • Teach company standards in regards to Starbucks department operations.
  • Delegate workload to ensure all customer service expectations are met.
  • Provide exceptional service and manage scheduling to ensure coverage.
  • Prepare, bag, pour and stock Starbucks products; rotate for quality and safety.
  • Take customer orders and ensure timely completion to satisfaction.
  • Maintain a positive and friendly attitude toward customers and team members.
  • Engage with customers with greetings, product information, and selling suggestions.
  • Process cash register transactions.
  • Enforce proper food-handling procedures for safety.
  • Conduct weekly price changes and monitor retail pricing.
  • Maintain inventory levels and ensure freshness of products.
  • Prepare and conduct physical Starbucks inventory.
  • Monitor reclaim reports and close containers weekly for accounting.
  • Maintain a clean department per company standards and cleaning calendar.
  • Inspect deliveries and rotate products regularly.
  • Merchandise department per plan-o-grams and execute marketing programs.
  • Communicate with Store Manager and associates; provide training and instruction.
  • Schedule department training and develop necessary skills.
  • Ensure ongoing training and skill development for retention.
  • Complete weekly department projections and control labor via scheduling.
  • Attend department head meetings and discuss staffing needs.
  • Lead recruiting, interviewing, and training of Bakery/Deli associates.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures and assist in annual reviews.
  • Listen to and resolve complaints from supervision, associates, and customers.
  • Follow local/state health rules, OSHA guidelines, and HACCP policy.
  • Participate in Planned Period Visits and Starbucks compliance procedures.

Job Summary:

Manage the overall daily operations of the Starbucks department under supervision and direction of the Store Manager. Responsible for achieving the department budgeted sales goals as well as budgeted gross and net profit goals. Keeping controllable costs such as labor, supplies, expenses, etc. at expected levels. Supervise, lead, and develop associates to run the best Starbucks department in town. Ensure a customer service oriented environment that is friendly, properly staffed, and well trained. Maintain quality and freshness of product, well-stocked department and cleanliness of the sales and prep areas. Increase department sales with strong merchandising skills and creative displays. Serve as the leader for the department in all aspects of business and contribute to overall success of the store. Ensure that all policy and procedures are followed for the safety and security of our associates, our customers, and our company.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Manage Starbucks department and associates to maximize sales and profitability by controlling product loss and promoting sales
  • Effectively manage, understand, and teach others company standards in regards to Starbucks department operations
  • Responsible for delegating workload of department fairly and evenly to Starbucks associates to ensure all company customer service expectations are met.
  • Provide exceptional service for customers through managing and communicating expectations for customer service with all associates, recruiting and selecting quality associates, and planning adequate coverage through scheduling
  • Preparing, bagging, pouring and stocking Starbucks products, rotating items to ensure product quality and safety.
  • Taking customer orders, ensuring orders are completed in a timely manner and to the customer’s satisfaction
  • Maintaining a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and fellow team members
  • Engage with customers through smiles and greetings, offering product information, providing selling suggestions and active sampling.
  • Process cash register transactions
  • Enforce proper food-handling procedures to ensure food safety as outlined in the company Food Safety program
  • Conduct weekly price changes and monitor accurate retail pricing for department
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels to incur few out-of-stocks, but with limited days’ supply on hand to ensure freshness of product
  • Responsible for preparing and accurately conducting physical Starbucks inventory
  • Monitor all reclaim reports while ensuring all reclaim containers are closed out weekly for proper accounting during inventory cycles
  • Maintain a clean department according to company standards and utilize cleaning calendar
  • Inspect product deliveries and rotate product on a regular basis
  • Merchandise Starbucks department on a regular, daily basis per plan-o-grams.
  • Responsible for implementing and enforcing all marketing programs per company standard.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with the Store Manager and all Starbucks associates, providing them with instruction and information.
  • Schedule and provide Starbucks associates with all required department training, development of necessary skills, and areas of job responsibilities including computer based training.
  • Ensure continued training and skill development for associates to increase retention of quality associates
  • Complete weekly department projections
  • Control labor through proper scheduling based on weekly sales projections
  • Attend department head meetings as scheduled by Store Manager
  • Discuss department staffing needs weekly with Store Manager and Human Relations Coordinator.
  • Engage in recruiting, interviewing, selecting and training of all new Bakery/Deli associates to ensure the Best Team in Town.
  • Enforce and maintain all safety policies and procedures.
  • Prepare performance reviews and assist Store Manager in conducting yearly review process for Starbucks associates.
  • Must listen to and resolve complaints or issues brought to the attention of the management team from supervision, associates, and customers
  • Understand and enforce all local and state health department rules and practices as well as federal OSHA guidelines and company HACCP policy
  • Responsible for participation in, follow up, and compliance of all Planned Period Visits (PPV) and mandatory Starbucks compliance procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High School Graduate, with college preferred
  • Three to five years’ experience in retail and/or Starbucks operations, operating as an assistant Starbucks manager for at least one year
  • Knowledge of how to mix various Starbucks coffee and tea products
  • Knowledge of the ingredients that go into various products
  • Work with various Starbucks ingredients including various coffees, teas, spices, nuts, flavorings, sauces, and oils.
  • Additional seminar/class training in leadership, employee and customer relations helpful
  • Completion of Starbucks All Store Training program
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals on a daily basis
  • Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies
