Job summary

Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV is seeking a friendly barista to welcome guests, explain the coffee menu, and craft drinks to order. You will educate guests, operate the POS, and help maintain equipment and a clean, safe work environment.

Flexible shifts including nights and weekends are required. Previous barista experience is helpful but not required; strong customer service skills are essential for success in this role.

• Prepare and serve coffee drinks using prescribed recipes (espresso, caffe latte, cappuccino).
• Keep equipment running, perform maintenance and call for repairs as needed.
• Maintain a safe, sanitary work environment and compliance with regulations.
• Support store/coffee bar quality by evaluating processes and improving appearance.
• Operate POS for part of the shift (minimum 4 hours).
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks.
• Assist with monthly store breakdown for deep cleaning.
• Other duties as assigned within scope of position.

• Sells coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation machines; demonstrating how brewing equipment operates.
• Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, espresso lungo, caffe latte, and cappuccino.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
• Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar.
• Enhances coffee shop reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

• Previous barista experience preferred or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• While performing the duties of this job, the team member is constantly standing, frequently walking, reaching overhead, bending over, crouching, kneeling and balancing during the duration of their shift.
• Must be able to push/pull up to 50lbs occasionally.
• The team members will frequently have repetitive use of both hands and occasional light and firm/strong grasping motions as well as finger dexterity.
• Constant use of vision abilities is required including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
