General Function

As a Coffee Shop Barista, this position will be responsible for reviewing and filling customer orders, handling food safely, and maintaining a clean work area. Providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service is essential to promote a positive company image.

Reporting Relations

Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers, Food Service Director, Coffee Department Manager

Positions reporting to you: None

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service, exhibiting care and patience in all interactions.
• Greet customers warmly and learn their names when possible.
• Assist customers with product location, handling out-of-reach items, loading heavy goods, and passing along suggestions.
• Answer calls promptly and take customer orders.
• Work as part of a team to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Handle food safely, maintain cleanliness, and ensure freshness.
• Manage inventory, prepare and replenish products, and handle transactions.
• Maintain personal hygiene and adhere to dress code and policies.
• Arrive on time for scheduled shifts.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, order supplies, price products, and assist in other store areas as needed.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

• Ability to follow detailed instructions and deal with concrete variables.

Education and Experience

Less than high school or equivalent with up to six months of related experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
• Visual acuity at various distances, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision.
• Perform physical activities including climbing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

Work is conducted in a store environment with potential exposure to noise, chemicals, and temperature extremes. Deadlines and multiple priorities are common.

Equipment Used

Tools include disposal, trash compactor, dishwasher, register, ice machines, scales, and knives.
