Job Description

Provide exceptional customer service in a safe and clean environment to ensure the customer's return visit. Treat customers and employees in a fair and ethical manner, promote an inclusive work environment, be a responsible community member, and provide the right products at the right time with fair and accurate pricing. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities

  1. Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products sold within the department and store.
  2. Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions, making suggestions about products.
  3. Collaborate with colleagues and promote teamwork to achieve company and store goals.
  4. Prepare beverages according to recipes and standards, and to customer requests using proper equipment; process transactions following company best practices.
  5. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products; inform customers of coffee shop specials.
  6. Provide customers with ordered products ensuring freshness and correct portion sizes to prevent shrinkage.
  7. Recommend coffee shop items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
  8. Use all coffee shop equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines; prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients.
  9. Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
  10. Properly use kitchen equipment including espresso machines, blenders, scales, and steamers.
  11. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  12. Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  13. Stay current with promotions, seasonal, and special ads.
  14. Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management; adhere to food safety regulations.
  15. Inspect equipment regularly and report maintenance needs.
  16. Report accidents, safety risks, and illegal activities to management.
  17. Work cooperatively in high-paced and stressful environments.
  18. Manage conflicts in a non-confrontational manner.
  19. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  20. Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
  21. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  22. Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service skills (minimum requirement).
  • Previous comparable experience (desired).
