Job description

SUMMARY: This position performs a full range of food production services and meal preparation per seasonal cycle menus for the resident's supper meal service. This includes other meal service upon administrative approval.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Determines the quantity of food to be prepared for meals and snacks per menu and standardized recipe.
  • Prepare and serve foods accurately according to the prescribed diet orders utilizing proper food handling techniques.
  • Observe high personal hygiene and food safety and sanitation practices at all times.
  • Participates in the receiving, checking and storage of food supplies, as necessary.
  • Wash dishes, pans, skillets, flatware, glasses, trays and utensils per meal.
  • Operate and clean kitchen equipment utilizing safety procedures.
  • Perform assigned cleaning ensuring that the kitchen is clean and sanitized daily.
  • Record food and equipment temperatures daily.
  • Other related duties may be assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time as required for the job.
  • Frequently handles objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally handles objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Exposed to potential hazards such as cuts, bruises, burns, and slip-and-fall injuries from wet floors.
  • Works in a well-lit, clean kitchen and dishwashing area that may be hot at times.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • (6) Months to (1) year experience preferred in quantity cooking and preparing therapeutic diets.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES:

  • Food handler's certification preferred or able to obtain within 90 days.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
