Nursing License preferred, Bachelor's required. Minimum of five years of experience in the clinical setting, simulation, or program coordination. Experience working with standardized patients or actors in an educational setting strongly preferred. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to supervise staff and manage program logistics effectively. Familiarity with simulation standards and educational evaluation methods. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Responsible for the day to day operations of SHSU The Woodlands Center (TWC) nursing labs while maintaining a professional relationship with faculty, staff and students at all times.
Plans, coordinates, and evaluates standardized patient (SP) activities to support clinical learning objectives. Collaborates with faculty to develop, implement, and refine case scenarios that reflect diverse patient populations and clinical conditions. Recruits, trains, schedules, and evaluates standardized patients to ensure consistency, professionalism, and alignment with simulation standards. Coordinates scheduling, room assignments, resources, documentation, and compliance requirements related to SP activities. Maintains records of participation, evaluations, and compensation and assists with assessment, quality improvement, and strategic planning initiatives. Serves as the primary point of contact for faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders regarding SP activities and supports simulation-based learning experiences. Supervises staff and student assistants as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Must be familiar with common laboratory equipment and instruction and research curriculum. Must be able to follow oral and written instruction and to work a modified schedule to accommodate classes and special projects. May require frequent contact with students, staff, and researchers. Eligible to attend Simulation conferences after one year of employment. Occasionally required to work during evening or Saturday events that must be covered. Position requires cleaning the lab, mannequins, and changing bed linens. Must be able to lift mannequins weighing up to 75 pounds.
As a practicing RN healthcare provider a current CPR certification is required.
