Compensation Range: $17.43 - $24.40

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual salaries will be set within this range based on various factors including market data, education, experience, and internal equity.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL PURPOSE

Portrays characteristics of patients, family members, or healthcare team members for training and assessment purposes. Conducts interviews and physical examinations using scripted scenarios to help healthcare students and professionals practice communication and examination skills in a safe environment.

Provides constructive feedback from a patient's perspective on interactions, conduct, communication, and medical assessments.

This position includes: Standard Role Play, Difficult Role Play, Non-Invasive Physical Exams, Ultrasounds, and Home Study.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Accurately portrays various medical scenarios during mock interviews and physical exams.
  • Responds to medical history questions in a standardized manner and improvises as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality of case information and evaluations.
  • Performs repeated physical examination maneuvers on self.
  • Wears appropriate attire during observations and recordings.
  • Uses body language to instruct learners on examination techniques for neurological, abdominal, head & neck, cardiovascular, pulmonary, and musculoskeletal exams.
  • Participates in standardized patient orientation and ongoing training.
  • Mentors newly hired standardized patients.
  • Provides educational feedback to learners and incorporates feedback received.
  • Supports departmental operations, including answering main office phones and administrative tasks.

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 6 months of work or volunteer experience preferred.
  • Experience in theatre, medical field, or education preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Ability to simulate case scenarios reliably and professionally.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Good reading and writing skills for case training and procedures.
  • Ability to portray a wide range of roles and remain in character.
  • Organization, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Fluency in multiple languages is a plus.
  • Flexible schedule availability preferred.
