Job summary

St. Mary's Food Bank is seeking a Forklift Operator to support daily warehouse functions, including loading and unloading trailers, moving products to staging, and putting away inventory across two shifts: 5:00 am–1:30 pm and 8:00 am–4:30 pm.

You will palletize and wrap loads, pick orders with tickets, rotate stock using FIFO, maintain a safe environment, and support general maintenance. Safety-sensitive role with zero tolerance for drugs; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• 1 year of forklift experience in a warehouse
• Inventory control and distribution experience
• Forklift certification and experience with electric or manual pallet jacks
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Good communication skills
• Ability to perform basic math
• Ability to read and understand pick tickets processes

Responsibilities

• Unload product from trailers and move to staging areas
• Palletize and shrink wrap product for storage and transport
• Pick allocated product using pick tickets
• Rotate perishable product using FIFO methods
• Maintain a safe, clean and orderly environment
• Maintain forklift and perform daily inspections and maintenance requests
• Support general facility maintenance (sweeping, mopping, trash)
• Be a reliable team member with flexible work adaptation
• Perform duties as assigned by Warehouse Manager
• Adhere to established policies and safety standards
• Provide excellent service to internal/external customers
• Recognize this is a safety-sensitive position with drug-free requirements

Job description

The Forklift Operator at St Marys Food Bank provides daily support for all warehouse functions to include loading and unloading of product from trailers moving staging and putting away product picking product and general assistance as required by other departments Two shifts available 500am 130pm & 800am 430pm

Essential Functions

• Unloads product from trailers and moves to assigned staging areas
• Palletizes and shrink wraps product for stability proper storage and transportation
• Picks allocated product using pick tickets for all Agency and Food Bank distributions
• Rotates perishable product using First in First out processes to ensure quality
• Maintains a safe and orderly environment through proper storage area maintenance and cleaning
• Maintains forklift cleanliness maintenance requests and daily inspection logs
• Supports facility general maintenance requirements; sweeping mopping dumping trash etc
• Attendance is important for job continuity
• Work as a team player and have flexibility in work situations
• Performs other duties as assigned by Warehouse Manager
• Performs all functions according to established policies procedures regulatory and accreditation requirements as well as applicable professional standards
• Provides all internalexternal customers of St Marys Food Bank with an excellent service experience
• IMPORTANT This position is considered safety sensitive and comes with a zero tolerance for drug use including marijuana

Physical Demands

Environment Factors Comfortable working in a Freezer environment with cold weather gear Requires extensive standing and walking Lift up to 60 pounds Needs adequate visual acuity ability to grasp and handle objects Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading writing and speaking in person or on telephone May require off site travel Required PPE Foot Protection that complies with ANSI or ASTM rating Steel toe or composite toe with slip resistant sole After completion of 90 days post hired date employee will be eligible for a shoe voucher to SMFB preferred shoe vendor

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience operating a forklift in a warehouse environment
• Inventory control and distribution experience
• Forklift Certification and experience using electric or manual pallet jacks
• Ability to work in fast paced work environment
• Good communication skills
• Ability to perform basic math skills
• Ability to read and understand pick tickets processes
