Job summary

Klöckner & Co SE is seeking a stand-up forklift operator to safely operate the forklift and perform warehouse duties. You will handle pallets, move materials, and maintain organized storage while assisting with inventory and reporting issues to the supervisor.

Qualifications

• One-year certificate from a college or technical school, or equivalent experience.
• Three to six months of related experience, or a two-year technical degree with 3-5 years of related field experience.
• Able to read and understand safety rules, operation, maintenance and procedure manuals.
• Ability to operate stand-up forklift and use measuring devices.

Job description

The Stand-up forklift operator is responsible for safely operating forklift while performing warehouse and material handling duties.

Job Responsibilities

• Forklift Operation: Drive the stand-up forklift and control the movement of lifting apparatus by moving levers and pressing pedals
• Material Handling: Position lifting forks under loaded pallets or skids, transport loads to designated areas, and stack materials by raising and lowering the lifting device
• Organization: Maintain material in an efficient and orderly manner by size and grade for easy retrieval
• Inventory Management: Inventory materials on the work floor and supply workers with materials as needed
• Inspection and Reporting: Inspect materials for damage or shortages and report findings to the supervisor
• Loading/Unloading: Load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting devices
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on the forklift, including lubricating the truck, recharging batteries, filling the fuel tank, or replacing the liquefied gas tank
• Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support warehouse operations

Qualifications

• Communication: Ability to speak effectively with customers and employees, and to read and understand safety rules, operation, maintenance, and procedure manuals.
• Mathematics: Proficiency in basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Instruction Compliance: Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Education and Experience:
  • 1-year certificate from a college or technical school; or
  • Three to six months of related experience; or
  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent with 3-5 years of experience in a related field
• Technical Skills: Ability to read and understand work orders and written instructions, utilize measuring devices such as rulers, tapes, and calipers, and use a computer to check stock and print tags
• Product Knowledge: Knowledge of products handled in the warehouse
• Banding Equipment: Ability to use banding equipment
• Physical Examination: Ability to pass a physical examination for vision, hearing, and mobility
• Reliability: Demonstrated reliable work history
• Attention to Detail: Must be detail-oriented with a strong focus on precision and quality in all tasks
