Job summary

• Complete required paperwork such as daily logs and incident reports.
• Participate in ongoing training related to driving skills and safety procedures.

Essential Job Functions

• Safely Transporting Students: Drive (or ride) a school bus to ensure the safe transportation of students to and from school, field trips, and other activities.
• Following Traffic Laws: Adhere strictly to traffic laws and school bus regulations.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks on the bus.
• Emergency Procedures: Know and implement emergency procedures in case of accidents, breakdowns, or other emergencies.
• Communication: Maintain effective communication with students, parents, school staff, and transportation authorities.
• Monitoring Students: Ensure students behave appropriately and safely while on the bus, maintaining discipline when necessary.
• Route Familiarity: Be familiar with the assigned route and ensure timely arrival and departure from stops.
• Paperwork and Documentation: Complete required paperwork, such as daily logs, incident reports, and mileage records.
• Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training and development programs related to driving skills, safety procedures, and student management.

Directly Responsible To: Director of Transportation

Terms of Employment

• Follows the Transportation Collective Bargaining Agreement
• Minimum of 25 hours per week

Evaluation

• Annually by the Director of Transportation
