Stamping Press Operator

The Stamping Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating stamping presses to produce high-quality parts that meet customer and company specifications. This role plays a key part in maintaining smooth production flow, ensuring product accuracy, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up, load, and unload metal coils through progressive dies, including banding and properly labeling coils at the completion of a production run.
- Align parts accurately between dies or position them against fixtures to ensure proper stamping and quality output.
- Perform routine quality checks using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to verify conformance to specifications.
- Accurately complete all required production documentation, including job cards, tally sheets, quality check sheets, and ERP entries.
- Monitor equipment performance and report any malfunctions, abnormalities, or safety hazards to supervision immediately.
- Remove metal scrap from the die, press bed, and surrounding work area; properly dispose of scrap materials in designated containers
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment by adhering to 5S principles and company safety/environmental standards.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), operator instructions, and quality requirements to ensure consistency in production.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement activities, including kaizen events, process improvement initiatives, and waste reduction efforts.
- Assist maintenance or set-up personnel during changeovers or troubleshooting as needed.
- Uphold quality accountability for all parts produced and immediately contain and report any nonconforming product.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary technical training a plus.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or stamping environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, load/packing instructions, and basic blueprints.
- Comfortable working with ERP systems to retrieve documents, enter data, and confirm production transactions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn press operations and related equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, dependability, and a positive team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull materials of various shapes, sizes, and weights (up to 50 lbs. frequently; 70+ lbs. occasionally with assistance).
- Forklift knowledge or certification is a plus.
