Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. in Montvale, NJ seeks an industrial press operator to operate a stamping press and produce components from strip material per work orders. You will set up tools, monitor machine parameters, and ensure a clean, safe work environment.

The role requires precise micrometer measurements, adherence to 6S principles, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Some on-the-job training is provided, with occasional weekend shifts when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate stamping press per work orders to produce components.
  • Maintain 6S in the work area and ensure clean machine state.
  • Set up tools, adjust controls for lubricant, speed, and pressure.
  • Inspect materials and use micrometer for thickness with high accuracy.
  • Move material between storage and press room.
  • Assist with process improvements and 6S initiatives.

Job description

Operate press machine to create components from required strip material per work order.

Essential Functions:
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by following 6S principles.
  • Set up tools and operate stamping press.
  • Establish general processing techniques for new materials. Adjust controls to regulate flow of lubricant, machine speed, machine pressure, etc.
  • Interpret and follow shop work orders.
  • Ability to take on multiple work assignments.
  • Timely completion of work assignments.
  • Work with OPEX Engineering staff on efficiency improvement projects, etc.
  • Assist area manager with any 6S initiatives and process improvement projects.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining each machine in a “model clean” state by performing regular “Type A” cleans, as expected by procedure/work instruction.
  • Maintaining the press machine’s tool and die set, having them repaired or sharpened as necessary.
  • Maintaining/staging in-process work material in a proper environment preventing contamination and/or damage.
  • Move material between storage and press room.
Knowledge / Skills Required:
  • Must be able to work well with others and be able to follow departmental rules.
  • Must be able to perform duties without external distraction, such as mobile phones and personal electronic devices.
  • Must be able to work with micrometer, digital or mechanical, sensing thickness with .0001” accuracy.
  • Be able to lift materials up to 50 lbs. With assistance and/or using small lifting equipment.
  • Safety conscious and able to assess risks with strong mechanical aptitude and solid mathematical skills.
  • Desire to use hands and learn new machinery and tooling.
  • Willingness to work on weekends when needed.
Education, Experience, and Training:

Some training may be acquired on the job.
Use of inspection tools (micrometer, caliper, microscope, shadowgraph, etc.).
Equipment safety training.
Basic computer skills required.
Must be able to make computer transactions into the ERP system.

Compensation

Employee Type: Hourly

Currency: USD

Salary Minimum: 45,000

Salary Maximum: 60,000
