Job summary

New York Air Brake, a Knorr-Bremse company, seeks a skilled welder/fabricator for our Springfield, MO facility. You will fit, fabricate and weld parts for assembly using TIG stainless and GMAW/FCAW/GTAW processes, reading diagrams and blueprints, and operating fabricating equipment.

This role requires a high school diploma and 1–2 years of related experience, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Attention to detail and strict safety adherence in a busy shop are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with TIG welding, including stainless steel.
• Experience welding with GMAW, FCAW and/or GTAW processes.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• Knowledge of best practices, measurement and quality control.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with shop measuring devices (calipers, micrometers).
• Basic knowledge of quantitative methods and graphic skills.

Responsibilities

• Fitting, fabricating, and welding parts for assembly.
• Use diagrams, blueprints, or instructions to fit, tack and weld product.
• Operate Press Brake, Punch Break and other fabricating equipment.
• Identify serviceable vs. non-serviceable parts during assembly.
• Follow procedural guidelines during fitting/welding process.

• Proper use of calibrated gauges and torque devices.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The employee will be exposed to shop floor conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, dust/dirt etc. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
