Job Description

Job Title: Night Shift Stainless Grinder / Finishing Technician
Shift: Monday – Thursday | 8:15 PM – 6:45 AM
Shift Differential: $0.50/hour
Location: Watson Metal Masters – Springfield, Mo

Join the growing team at Watson Metal Masters as a Night Shift Grinder / Finishing Technician. In this key role, you’ll help shape high-quality stainless-steel products used across industries. If you’re dependable, detail-focused, and have at least 1 year of stainless grinding experience, this is your chance to be part of something built to last.

What You’ll Do

• Operate grinding machines to finish external/internal cylindrical or tapered surfaces.
• Use abrasives to shape, smooth, and finish stainless steel parts.
• Read and interpret blueprints, charts, and technical drawings.
• Set up grinding equipment, including wheel mounting and dressing.
• Determine correct speeds, feeds, and grinding specifications.
• Use precision tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure part quality.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE (steel toes, safety glasses).

What You Bring

• Minimum 1 year of stainless-steel grinding experience required.
• Comfortable working third shift (Mon–Thurs, 8:15 PM–6:45 AM).
• Ability to inspect, maintain, and replace grinding wheels.
• Skilled at reading and interpreting part drawings and specs.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs and stand/walk for long periods.
• Experience with grinding non-metallic materials is a plus.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and solid troubleshooting skills.
• Must be detail-oriented, safety-minded, and dependable.
• Dye Check certification (or ability to pass on the job).
