Job summary

Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, IA, invites applications for a Part-time Stagehand at the Arts Center. This theater technician supports a variety of events by assisting with lighting, sound, video, staging, rigging and A/V systems, under the direction of the Arts Center's Technical Director.

The ideal candidate has experience in a technical venue, can follow directions, communicates clearly, and maintains a professional appearance appropriate to event settings.

Qualifications

• Experience in a technical field in an entertainment venue, company, or school theater.
• Ability to listen, understand instructions and work independently.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and interpersonal.
• Knowledge of modern sound, lighting, stage and rigging equipment.
• Understanding of stage operations and theater etiquette.
• Professional appearance appropriate to the events.
• Must be an Iowa Western student.

Responsibilities

• Take direction from Technical Director or production staff and carry out tasks supporting live performances.
• Set-up, tear-down, and operation of theater equipment including lighting, sound, scenery, rigging, staging, and other equipment.
• Loading and unloading performance equipment from event transportation vehicles.
