Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Performing Arts Production Specialist to support Centre Stage in the School of Theatre. You will fabricate and install scenery, collaborate with students and faculty, and manage production elements to enhance learning and performances.

You will also transport and install items, supervise projects, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while working in a dynamic, student-focused environment that values craftsmanship and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience building scenery in a scene shop setting.
• Ability to independently fabricate wood and metal scenic elements from shop drawings.
• Candidates must be able to lift up to 75 pounds regularly, with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Execute the construction and fabrication of set pieces for theatrical productions and events.
• Coordinate and oversee fabrication projects.
• Generate and update inventory and inspection lists related to materials and equipment.
• Assist in the maintenance and storage of props, scenery, and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with building laws, safety, and fire codes.
• Teach and mentor students and/or part-time workers in collaboration with faculty and students.
• Occasionally transport, assemble, inspect, and install production items.
• Maintain safe operation and storage of machinery and equipment.
