Job summary

The PAC Stagehand at Grosse Pointe Public Schools System provides technical, scenic, and operational support for district performing arts venues, school productions, and live events. Working within a centralized six-person team, the role covers set construction, audio/lighting setup, venue maintenance, and live event support across multiple district facilities year-round.

The ideal candidate is safety-minded, collaborative, and able to adapt technical elements to achieve the production vision

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Hands-on experience in live technical theater, event production, or scenic carpentry preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50–60 lbs repeatedly and work at heights.
  • Familiarity with basic hand and portable power tools and safety procedures.
  • Ability to follow diagrams, run sheets, and instructions from leads.

Responsibilities

  • Scenic Construction & Deck Work: build, transport, and strike scenic elements and props per specs and safety guidelines.
  • Live Audio & Lighting Support: assist with installation, cabling, operation, and strike of audio and lighting for district events.
  • Collaborative Execution: work with others to adapt technical/creative elements to the production vision.
  • Venue & Shop Maintenance: keep shops and backstage areas clean, safe, and organized.
  • Event Support & Customer Service: interact professionally with educators, students, and guests during rehearsals and events.
  • Proactive Task Ownership: manage daily tasks independently or as part of a crew.
