Job summary

The University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts invites applications for a full-time instructional-track faculty position in Stage Management and Technical Production to teach courses in stage management, technical theatre, production management, and related disciplines. Beginning August 2027.

The role combines teaching (80%) with service (20%), mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, serving on MFA committees, advising, and participating in departmental and university service.

Qualifications

• MFA in Theatre Arts with emphasis in Stage Management, Theatre Management, or Technical Production.
• Professional accomplishments in stage management.
• At least 1 year of university teaching beyond TA in stage management and at least one of production management or technical production.

Responsibilities

• Teach six courses per year in BA and MFA programs, including Theatre Technology, Stage Management I, and Production Management.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate stage management students and serve on MFA thesis committees.
• Provide academic advising and participate in departmental and university service, recruiting at U/RTA.
