Job summary

Aveanna Healthcare is seeking a paraprofessional to support students in achieving educational, social, and emotional goals during Extended School Year activities. You will work with teachers to implement individualized instruction and behavior supports, helping students stay on task and complete assignments.

Qualifications

• First aid/CPR certification as required by state/local requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support and instruction to students throughout the school day.
• Assist teachers with implementing behavior initiatives and maintaining on-task behavior.
• Support students in completing assignments and transitioning between activities.
• Collect data on students' academic, behavioral, and social goals.
• Assist with activities of daily living as appropriate and help utilize technology.

Overview. The position is responsible for supporting students in achieving their educational, social, and emotional goals. Paraprofessionals complement teacher’s educational efforts by providing direct support and instruction to students throughout the school day.

This role would be for Extended School Year into the 26/27 school year

Essential Job Functions

• Support students in completing assigned work
• Support students in transitioning from one location or activity to another
• Follow student-specific treatment, teaching, or lesson plans to support students in achieving their academic, social, and emotional goals
• Support students with activities of daily living as appropriate (e.g., eating, brushing teeth, hygiene, as appropriate)
• Collect data on students' academic, behavioral, and social goal.

Requirements

• High school graduate, GED or equivalent of education and training

Additional State And/or Local Requirements

• Background checks as stipulated by local and/or state requirements (e.g., child abuse clearance, criminal history report, etc…)
• First aid and/or CPR certification as stipulated by local and/or state requirements
• Registration or Certification as required by state requirements.
• Ongoing continuing education hours as stipulated by local and/or state requirements

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English
• Must be able to travel to/from school/work location.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 25 pounds
• Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds
• Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting
• Must be able to sit and climb stairs
• Must have visual and hearing acuity
• Must have a strong sense of smell and touch
• Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to safely operate equipment,
• including grasping and manipulating small objects
• Must be able to appropriately respond physically and mentally to emergency situations
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as needed
