Job summary

Banner University Medical Center Phoenix is seeking a Staffing Coordinator to join our Clinical Care Operations unit. You will coordinate staff coverage and bed placement across a Level I trauma hospital and provide administrative support to the department.

This is a full-time night shift position (6pm–6:30am) with weekend and holiday rotations. You will have the opportunity to use our self-scheduling tool and enjoy 18% night shift differential plus $1/hour weekend differential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • 1 year of experience in a healthcare office setting; patient services or admitting helpful.
  • Medical terminology, excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints and meet deadlines while working on multiple projects.
  • Proficient with commonly used office software and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates facility-wide staff placement operations and coordinates staffing on units.
  • Coordinates staffing functions for nursing including RN/LPN/CNA/Techs and clerical support.
  • Develops computerized work schedules and anticipates weekly staffing needs.
  • Performs office management and clerical services for department(s).
  • Addresses ongoing staffing requirements and liaises with external/internal customers.
  • Maintains organization, communication, and human relations in daily tasks.
  • Identifies and communicates real and potential problems to nursing leadership.

Banner University Medical Center is seeking a staffing coordinator to join our Clinical Care Operations unit.

As a Staffing Coordinator with the CCO at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix, you will play a vital role in coordinating staff coverage and bed placement throughout the Level I trauma hospital to ensure a high level of patient care. In addition, you will provide administrative support for the entire Clinical Care Operations department. You will be working in a fast-paced, call center like, ever-changing environment. You will be managing multiple priorities at once and coordinating details with multiple departments and within a variety of software programs.

This is a Full time night shift position working from 6pm-6:30am.

Weekend and holiday rotations required. You will have the opportunity utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage. Enjoy an 18%-night shift differential and a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for facility-wide patient and/or staff placement operations. This position is the primary source of staffing information for the individual units. The incumbent assists leadership with fiscal responsibility by placing the most cost-effective staff on the floors and ensuring thatfloors are not over or understaffed for every shift.

CORE FUNCTIONS
  1. Initiates facility-wide staff placement operations. Coordinates staffing on all/most units within the facility. Adheres to staffing policies and guidelines and maintains fiscal responsibility.
  2. Coordinates staffing functions for the nursing department including RN’s, LPN’s, CNA’s, Tech’s and clerical support. Developing computerized work schedules; anticipates needs on a weekly basis and schedules extra staff as needed.
  3. Performs office management and clerical services for department(s) as requested. his includes, but is not limited to, entering, maintaining, and archiving data using multiple software platforms, as well as answering calls, providing information and screening telephone calls.
  4. Addresses continual demand for staffing requirements while functioning as liaison for external and internal customers.
  5. Demonstrates excellence in organization, communication, and human relations skills.
  6. Prioritizes and organizes own work. Uses discretion to modify work practices to achieve results or improve efficiency, while using established policies and general instructions and procedures to resolve a variety of problems. Chooses best alternative from group of known possibilities.
  7. Identifies, resolves, and communicates real and potential problems and information to appropriate nursing leadership.

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Banner Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • The position also requires skills and abilities typically gained with 1 year of experience in a healthcare office setting, previous experience in patient services or admitting would be very helpful.
  • Must have medical terminology, excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills and critical thinking skills.
  • Must have the ability to work under tight time constraints and meet deadlines while working on a variety of projects.
  • Must be proficient with commonly used office software and equipment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate' Degree preferred.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
