Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Staffing Coordinator at Community Medical Center to direct and manage the Staffing Office’s activities. You will ensure timely, cost-effective replacement staffing, support staff, monitor staffing effectiveness, and maintain strong relations with Nursing Management.

Required: High School Diploma; preferred College Degree and prior staffing/medical office experience with supervisory responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Experience in staffing/medical office with supervisory responsibilities preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Proficient with Word and Excel; good computer literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Completes daily staffing report and verifies accuracy with schedules.
  • Completes weekly payroll.
  • Coordinates staffing functions: monitor sick calls, notify management of issues, assign coordinators to needs, schedule nurses/aides per guidelines.
  • Ensures compliance with HR policies and regulatory requirements; addresses infractions promptly.

Pay Range: $21.23 - $28.37 per hour


Pay Transparency:

The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.


The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.


Job Overview:

Directs and manages the activities of the Medical Center’s Staffing Office. Ensures staff is well trained in securing replacement personnel on a timely, cost-effective basis, provides support and direction to staffers, monitors staffing effectiveness and personnel compliance with Medical Center’s policies and procedures and fosters strong working relationships with all levels of Nursing Management.


Qualifications:

Required:


  • High School Diploma


Preferred:


  • College Degree

  • Prior staffing / medical office experience as well as supervisory responsibility

  • Computer applications including Word and Excel

  • Strong communication / interpersonal skills

  • Ability to multi-task successfully


Scheduling Requirements:


  • Per Diem, Days


Essential Functions:


  • Completes daily staffing report. Verifies accuracy against schedule and printouts.

  • Completes weekly payroll.

  • Coordinates staffing function including, but not limited to: Monitoring sick calls and personal days Notifying management of problem areas Dedicating coordinators to areas in greatest need Notifying the agency of any changes in required shifts/divisions Scheduling nurses / aides according to established guidelines Complying with bargaining unit contracts Documenting all pertinent information

  • Ensures staff compliance with all Medical Center / Human Resources policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. Addresses infractions in a timely manner and in accordance with the Medical Center’s disciplinary guidelines.

  • Establishes and maintains successful working relationships with Nurse Managers, Nursing Supervisors and Directors. Works cooperatively with management to achieve proper nurse to patient ratio.

  • Gathers / prepares weekly and monthly statistics / data for periodic and interim reports.

  • Provides training and oversight to new staff members. Oversees the training provided by others.

  • Responds to / resolves staffing complaints in a timely manner. Promptly reports unresolved or significant issues to Nursing Administration.

  • Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service.

  • Adheres to patient rights: provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records.

  • Demonstrates professionalism with families, visitors, physicians, co-workers and supervisors.

  • Listens and communicates effectively

  • Supports teamwork by cooperative problem solving through participation in meetings, projects, etc.

  • Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions

  • Organizes work sets priorities with a minimum of supervision and seeks guidance as appropriate

  • Makes decisions that are timely and consistent with department, objectives, policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrates sound judgment; accepts and benefits from constructive criticism

  • Participates in ongoing education as required.
