With over 100k+ hours of content, Pocket FM has one of the largest libraries on the planet and we have grown a community of 100 million listeners, spending an average of over 150 minutes in-app every day. Total streaming of Pocket FM audio series now tops 4 billion minutes monthly.

The creative development team is responsible for the adaptation of our stories into audio series, putting the best team of writers on each show to ensure we get it right. We are looking for a Staff Writer that will serve in the writers room for an audio series for our next Werewolf Romance title. Reporting to the Head Writer and working closely, you will be responsible for drafting episodes of the show, incorporating notes and feedback from the other members of the writing team. The ideal candidate is a seasoned writer with deep experience writing Werewolf Romance stories in screenplay, novel, web fiction, or audio format.

A successful candidate is a highly motivated individual who works comfortably and autonomously in a fast-paced environment. Has a strong understanding of storytelling, narrative fiction, and web fiction. You have a demonstrated ability to manage priorities and projects and the right mix of organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Adapt licensed foreign content into long-form (200hr+) audio content, primarily in the Romance + Drama and Fantasy genres, drafting episodes that align with the creative vision of the Head Writer.
  • Help plan story arcs for 200hr+ series with Head Writer and Creative Development Lead, and execute on the writing of episodes to hit timelines for development, production, and post production.
  • Incorporate the notes and feedback of the Head Writer and Creative Development Lead, revising the episodic content to ensure a high quality of writing for each episode.
  • Write and rewrite 80k - 110k words each month.
  • Develop supporting documents for each series (concept notes, art briefs, marketing copy, etc.).
  • Support innovation initiatives like A/B Tests.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a strong understanding of storytelling and craft.
  • Must have demonstrable experience in the Werewolf Romance genre with samples or online portfolio available for review.
  • Bachelor's degree in Writing, Language Studies, Film, or a related degree.
  • 3-5+ years’ experience in long form creative writing and editing, such as narrative fiction, line-editing, fictional content creation, publishing, or scriptwriting.
  • Must be comfortable with rigorous editing, tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility and versatility as a writer whether the assignment is a drama, rom-com, fantasy, or action.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Strong preference for candidates who:
  • Have understanding/experience writing for WebNovel, Wattpad, Royal Road, Radish, and similar web-fiction platforms.
  • Are fans of Light Novels, Webtoons, Chinese web-novels, Anime, Manga, and similar Eastern fiction content.

Location: Anywhere (Remote working)

Term: Show Level Contract (renewable)

Salary: Dependent on Experience (Pre-Production Payment + Deliverables) up to $4,300/month
