Job summary

Google DeepMind is seeking a Staff UX Researcher for GeminiApp to lead foundational user research on next‑generation AI experiences. You will move beyond tactical testing to inform multi‑year product roadmaps and partner with cross‑functional teams across research, product, and strategy.

You will define RLHF signals, measure concepts like hallucination tolerance and collaborative trust, and scale evaluation frameworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HCI, psychology, cognitive science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of UX research or related experience in consumer-facing technology.
• Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods.

Responsibilities

• Identify user needs in generative AI and lead foundational research informing the multi-year product roadmap.
• Define signals for model tuning RLHF to align AI personality with user expectations.
• Partner with Research, Product Management, and Strategy to integrate insights into business strategy.
• Develop frameworks to evaluate AI, measuring hallucination tolerance, creative agency, and trust.
