Job summary

Etsy is seeking a Staff UX Researcher to raise the quality of experiences across the marketplace. You will lead research and measurement focused on usability, benchmarking buyer and seller flows, and identifying major gaps to inform product decisions.

You will own a cross-functional research program, collaborating with Product, Design, Engineering, Analytics, and Research to translate evidence into priorities and guidance. This is a full-time role reporting to a Director of Research.

Qualifications

• 5+ years conducting product research.
• Strong quantitative research expertise with surveys and metrics.
• Proficient in selecting qualitative and quantitative methods.
• Deep knowledge of usability research and translating concepts into measurable dimensions.
• Track record building durable research programs across complex problem spaces.

Responsibilities

• Define experience quality and set research strategy for UX modernization.
• Build and lead a repeatable benchmarking program for core Etsy buyer and seller flows.
• Establish baselines and success measures across usability, task completion, efficiency, and perception.
• Lead mixed-methods research that identifies and prioritizes experience gaps.
• Integrate quantitative data with qualitative insights and analytics.
• Translate evidence into clear recommendations influencing product roadmaps and standards.
• Create scalable methods, tools, and reporting for teams to assess experience quality.
• Mentor researchers and elevate the organization’s usability measurement practices.
