Staff Technical Program Manager

As Staff Program Manager, you will play a critical role in driving the successful execution of large-scale ground breaking technical initiatives and programs. You will work closely with cross-organizational and globally distributed teams including engineering, product management, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and delivery of scope, time, and budget targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for defining and delivering groundbreaking technology related programs and initiatives in PlayStation Platform with cross-organizational, cross-regional to achieve strategic goals.
  • Lead the lifecycle of complex programs ensuring adherence to project timelines, budget, and quality standards with considerable impact.
  • Proactively identify critical issues and dependencies that need action and drive them to closure, while balancing business needs and technical constraints
  • Develop strong connections and successful partnerships with individuals at different levels within and outside the organization.
  • Adeptly build consensus, effectively communicate program status, risks, and dependencies, and solicit feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Represent sophisticated decisions, trade-offs, and potential solutions clearly to stakeholders to help them understand the options available and the decisions needed, and demonstrate strong decision-making skills when addressing blocking issues.
  • Drive process improvements to boost organization and program management capabilities, increase efficiency, and deliver outstanding results.
  • Use the knowledge and experience to offer guidance and mentorship to other PMO members to improve their skills and knowledge base in various areas.
  • Lead initiatives to optimize hosting and platform operation costs (FinOps), collaborating closely with engineering, finance, and operations teams to ensure cost efficiency and sustainability across cloud and on-premise environments.
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years proven experience leading and managing complicated technical programs in a fast-paced environment.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in any technology area
  • Program Management or engineering experience in at least one of these technology areas: Cloud Infrastructure (AWS / GCP etc.), On-premise DC, Engineering tool-set(EKS, CICD, Observability tool etc.), Database, Common Library/frameworks.
  • Experience with Systems Development Lifecycle and Project Management methodologies, specifically Agile/Scrum
  • Deep experience in using program management tools such as JIRA / Confluence and ability to flexibility adapt the process into the tool.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, prioritize tasks, and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams with strong leadership.
  • Bring clarity, calm and process to ambiguous, stressful or complicated situations.
  • Must drive strategic decision making with cross-functional team, including senior leadership
  • Experience working with globally-distributed teams and multicultural working environments
  • Ideal candidate possess a strong understanding of cloud / hosting technology (AWS, GCP, On-premise), Database Technology, and other relevant technologies.
  • Deep understanding of cloud cost models (e.g., AWS/GCP), billing structures, and tools (e.g., FinOut, AWS Cost Explorer, GCP Billing) to manage and optimize platform expenditure.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in FinOps practices including cloud cost optimization, usage analysis, budgeting, and collaboration with finance and engineering teams.
  • Expert level experience with JIRA – ability to build custom dashboards and show an understanding of how to manage JIRA as a source of truth.
  • Experienced in mentoring junior team members and chipping in to the continued improvement of PMO.
  • Experience in a high transaction network-based services, video gaming industry or social media
  • Experience leading cross-functional cost optimization programs in large-scale cloud environments.
  • Understanding of Japanese workstyle, culture, and language.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

$173,000 - $259,400 USD
