Position Summary...

As a Staff Technical Program Manager in Tax, your main responsibilities will revolve around managing large-scale tax software development programs that drive transformational change across Walmart's tax engines. You will work closely with tax architects, engineering, product, design, and business leaders to ensure the successful completion of these programs, which will involve streamlining multiple tax engines into a single engine that works across all formats and banners.

To do this, you will need a deep understanding of software architecture and design principles, as well as a strong grasp of tax regulations and compliance requirements. Building strong relationships with stakeholders across Walmart to ensure alignment on roles, responsibilities, and program cadences, especially with business partners relying on accurate and timely tax calculations, will be crucial.

Your role will involve defining goals, stage gates, critical delivery paths, and key deliverables for large-scale tax programs with dependencies across multiple areas, timelines, and resources. Efficient engineering resource utilization and simplifying priorities with clear plans and milestones for executive buy-in are essential.

You will also establish a resource capacity allocation process and tools to transform planning, ensuring resources are allocated effectively. Your problem-solving and decision-making skills will be vital in navigating setbacks or obstacles during development and implementation.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager in software delivery managing aggressive schedules and significant impact.
• Experience in system design, architecture, APIs, and related technologies.
• Ability to build positive relationships and collaborate with product managers, translating needs into features and user stories.
• Strong ownership, accountability, and love for data and solving complex problems.
• Expertise in change & risk management, project tracking tools, dashboards, and reports.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging at all levels.
• Understanding of tools like JIRA, JIRA Align, Big Picture is advantageous.

What you'll do...
