Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Test Engineer for the AVE-IATC (TP&E) team. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program.

The role involves designing and executing robust test plans that meet schedule and cost constraints, and coordinating with SMEs, test teams, and design partners. You will lead hardware-in-the-loop testing, document ConOps, and contribute to test readiness reviews.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship with active DoD Secret Clearance (within last 6 years).
• Ability to obtain SAP approval within company requirements.
• 8+ years experience in system integration (HW & SW).
• 8+ years experience in test plans and TRRs.
• 8+ years experience data collection/instrumentation and test readiness.
• 8+ years experience generating ConOps flows and test data analyses.

What You Will Get To Do:

• Develop customer contractual needs and requirements into test solutions that acknowledges technical schedule and cost constraints.
• Develop and direct preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules.
• Review and evaluate test requirements for completeness of test program.
• Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts, Element Test teams, System Test teams, and other stakeholders to identify test objectives, test requirements, and risks that require test to mitigate.
• Supporting development of instrumentation requirements for Hardware in the Loop testing.
• Identify test support requirements and coordinate with Design & Integration team for budget and personnel needs.
• Overseeing test activities in support or requirement verification and validation.
• Conduct daily briefing and approve test start for each test event.
• Approve Break of Configuration on the test floor.
• Conduct tabletop reviews and dry run test procedures with test team prior to execution.
• Coordinate and conduct Technical and Safety Review Boards, and Test Readiness Reviews.
• Support customer Test Plan Working Groups.
• Prepare Test Planning Team charters.
• Coordinate with Quality organization for test support.
• Review and approve major test amendments.
• Utilize excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
• Working well in a team environment, collaborate with multiple engineering teams to define test objectives and requirements for test activities in a hardware in the loop lab.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 12 years of relevant experience, OR a Masters degree and 10 years of relevant experience, OR a PhD and 8 years of relevant experience, OR 4 years extra in lieu of a degree.
• Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
• 8+ years of experience of system integration (HW and SW)
• 8+ years of experience supporting the development, plan, and execution of test plans and reporting
• 8+ years of experience with data collection/instrumentation (methods, hardware, setup, and troubleshooting)
• 8+ years of experience with the generation of test procedures and test readiness reviews (TRRs)
• 8+ years of experience creating test Concept of Operations (ConOps) flows that maximizes the utility of test resources while meeting schedule and technical requirements and/or constraints
• 8+ years of experience generating and supporting test data decomposition and test reports to other IPTs
• 8+ years of experience in consolidating and processing of final test data for requirements verification/model validation sign-off
• 8+ years of experience leading teams through a test campaign

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge/experience with AF Test Directive 99-103
• Experience with ICBMs (MM, PK, Small Missile) or DOD programs
• Knowledge/Experience with IBM DOORS database
• Experience in troubleshooting anomalous hardware and software
• Experience defining test objectives based on test requirements, VCRM and interface and specification documentation

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,000.00 - $208,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
