Twenty-Six Defense seeks a Staff Systems Engineer to translate customer requirements into comprehensive systems specifications and to guide the development of defense systems within a cross‑functional team.

The role covers requirements management, architecture design, modeling, integration, verification, and documentation across concept to disposal. Strong leadership, MBSE tooling, and hands‑on testing are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is required.
• 14+ years of relevant professional systems engineering experience.
• Advanced DOORS requirements management training preferred.
• Cameo – system engineering modeling training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform requirements management, analysis, and allocations on complex systems design.
• Lead complex systems-level architecture design and system-level modeling/simulation.
• Lead cost estimates to support engineering activities.
• Provide technical leadership and execute transitions from R&D to production.
• Lead and execute software/hardware integration and debugging.
• Develop system specifications, master test plans, and related artifacts.
• Mentor entry-level engineers and contribute to program schedules.

Job Summary:

The Staff Systems Engineer performs requirements analysis and management, technical planning, systems-level design, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk management, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Also performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, and requirements interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into systems specifications. Analyses are performed at all levels of the total system product, including concept, design, fabrication, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. Ensure the logistical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total system solutions that account for technical, schedule, and cost constraints. The Systems Engineer will provide guidance in the development of new defense systems and components functioning as part of a System / Integrated Product Team.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Perform requirements management, analysis, and allocations on complex systems design
• Lead complex systems-level architecture design and perform system-level modeling and simulation.
• Lead cost estimates to support engineering activities.
• Execute program while providing technical leadership.
• Recommend tools to improve systems engineering design of a product and procedures.
• Develop systems specifications, master test plans, and other necessary artifacts.
• Provide inputs into the integrated master schedules and track program progress.
• Assist in verification and validation responsibilities.
• Fully understand internal systems engineering procedures and mentor entry-level engineers.
• Lead and execute transition of technologies from R&D/advanced concepts into production or program baselines.
• Lead and execute Software/hardware integration, including leading these efforts.
• Lead and execute debug and troubleshoot multifunctional systems.
• Lead and execute live-fire testing, development of test plans and procedures, and safety documentation.
• Other related duties assigned by supervisor.

Education, Experience, License, or Certification:

• Bachelor's degree is required
• Master's degree is preferred
• Specific Degree Field Required: Aerospace, Software/Computer Science, Electrical, Electronic, Electro-Optical, Mechanical, or other applicable technical discipline
• 14+ years of relevant professional experience in the systems engineering field
• Advanced DOORS requirements management training (preferred)
• Systems Engineering Simulation and Modeling concepts (preferred)
• Systems Engineering methods, tools, and procedures
• Training Prerequisites (Within One Year of Taking Position):
  • System Engineering requirements and architecture development tools
  • Cameo - system engineering modeling
  • Safety Training, as dictated by Safety Department or required by program

Skills and Abilities:

• Experience working with ground combat systems, military vehicle architectures, mission systems, or survivability subsystems
• Experience with requirements management, integration, and test
• Experience working on defense systems - especially safety-critical systems (preferred)
• Prior leadership of integration events, field tests, or cross‑organizational technical transitions
• DOORS requirements management tool suite
• Cameo or equivalent for Model Based System Engineering
• Microsoft Office including the use of Excel and other desktop tools
• Microsoft Projects
• Systems-level analysis tools such as Mathlab, MATLAB, or equivalent
• Systems-level block diagram capture tools such as Visio
• Other related systems engineering tools
• Strong communication skills
• Skilled and confident presenter

Travel/Physical Requirements:

• 15% travel required
