Job summary

Impulse is hiring a Staff Systems Electrical Engineer in San Francisco to own the electrical architecture across our product line, from concept through certification and production. You will drive platform reuse, define HW–firmware interfaces, and lead cross‑domain problem solving including control, sensing, and safety considerations.

You will collaborate with firmware, thermal, and mechanical teams, guide JDM/CM partners, and travel ~4–6 times yearly.

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing electronics shipped at volume with EVT/DVT/PVT gates and production test
• System-level architecture ownership: partitioning and interface definition
• Experience with EMC/safety certification and safety standards
• Embedded software fluency to review firmware and troubleshoot cross-domain issues

Responsibilities

• Own electrical architecture across products, from concept to production
• Define interfaces: hardware to firmware, board to board, electrical to thermal and mechanical
• Lead electrical design reviews and establish design standards
• Build in-house tooling for characterization, analysis, and test automation
• Travel to partners and production sites (roughly 4-6 trips per year)
