Job summary

Sonatus, Inc. is seeking a Staff System Test Automation Engineer, AI, to lead quality efforts for AI-driven embedded and cloud-connected systems. The role is hybrid; you must come to the Sunnyvale HQ office 3 days a week and report to the Senior Manager, Engineering (QA Automation - Vehicle).

You’ll collaborate across teams to define testing strategies, develop automated and manual tests, and drive end-to-end validation of AI model deployment and scoring in automotive environments.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related field is required.
• Minimum 5 years in embedded software in data centers, networking, security, cloud services, or automotive.
• At least 1+ year of experience with AI model development and testing.

Responsibilities

• Define testing strategies with diverse teams.
• Develop and execute automated and manual test plans.
• Triage and diagnose integration issues and root causes.
• Escalate software, hardware, or resource issues to management.

The Opportunity:

Sonatus is looking for an experienced Staff System Test Engineer with deep expertise in AI testing to lead quality efforts across AI-driven embedded and cloud-connected systems. This role centers on validating AI model testing, deployment, monitoring, and test automation within innovative automotive and cloud environments. This is a hybrid role where you must come into our Sunnyvale HQ office 3 days a week. You will be reporting to our Senior Manager, Engineering (QA Automation - Vehicle).

Role and Responsibility:

• Collaborate with diverse teams to define testing strategies for challenging and innovative projects.
• Develop and execute detailed test plans using both automated and manual testing.
• Triage integration issues, replicate problems, and assist in identifying root causes and solutions.
• Escalate potential issues (Software, Hardware, Resources) to the Project Manager/Executive team.
• Track testing activities, ensuring clear alignment across key stakeholders
• Identify areas for improvement in test coverage and methodology, providing valuable suggestions.
• Act as the gatekeeper for each release, representing the voice of customers and providing constructive feedback.
• Work with the development team to orchestrate AI model deployment, testing, and scoring.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree (MS preferred) in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or other related fields is required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in embedded software in data centers, networking, security, cloud services, or the automotive industry, and minimum 1+ year of experience with AI model development and testing.
• Proficient in test methodologies with experience in system-level testing of physical devices.
• Familiarity with the Linux command line and proficiency in shell scripting.
• Familiarity with Quality Assurance for the Cloud Platform developed on private and public Cloud Infrastructure.
• Strong expertise in AI fundamentals, neural networks, and model deployment and ML flow.
• Strong experience in E2E testing of cloud-controlled / monitored embedded products.
• Review and challenge product requirements, design, and functional specifications.
• Proficient in developing, reviewing, and modifying Python scripts to enhance test coverage.
• Experience with designing and implementing test tools for AI/ML automation and deployment
• Familiarity with common test frameworks such as PyTest, Playwright, Behave, or similar.
• Familiarity with test tools in the data analytics space is a plus.
• Proficiency in JIRA, Jenkins, or similar tools.

The posted salary range is a general guideline and represents a good faith estimate of what Sonatus ("Company") could reasonably expect to pay for a base salary for this position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs. The Company reserves the right to modify this range in the future, as needed, as market conditions change.

Base Salary Pay Range

$148,500 - $204,000 USD
