Job summary

BKF Engineers, Inc. in Northern California is seeking a Staff Surveyor to join our surveying team and lead innovative projects. You will assist senior project surveyors and the project manager on 3D laser scanning, construction staking, GIS, BIM, boundary and topo surveys.

We work on diverse projects and provide training to help each team member become well-rounded. You will draft maps and topographic surveys, build 3D models, and support field crews on high-profile projects, with travel between

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 0-3 years of office surveying experience.
• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or LSIT preferred.
• Knowledge of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment.
• Proficient in CAD software, especially Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Construction staking experience, including plans reading and cut sheets.
• Experience processing laser scanning data is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare staking calculations by reading plans and CAD files.
• Create mapping deliverables including boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, plats, and legal descriptions.
• Post-process field data from total station, GPS, levels, 3D laser scanners, and UAS.
• Build 3D models of sites and structures for owners, architects, engineers, and contractors.
• Travel to BKF offices and job sites as needed.

Join BKF Engineers as a Staff Surveyor and lead the way in innovative surveying projects!

The surveying team at BKF works on a variety of cutting-edge projects. As a staff surveyor, you will assist senior project surveyors and your project manager on 3D laser scanning, construction staking, GIS, BIM, boundary, and topographic survey projects. You will draft maps and topographic surveys, build 3D models, and assist our field crews in constructing the largest and most high-profile projects in Northern California. We work on a diverse array of projects and provide training to help each team member become well-rounded.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing construction staking calculations by reading plans and interpreting CAD files
• Creating mapping deliverables including boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, plats, and legal descriptions
• Post-processing field data collected via total station, GPS, levels, 3D laser scanners, and unmanned aerial systems
• Building 3D models of sites and structures for owners, architects, engineers, and contractors
• Travel to various job sites and offices may be required

Physical Demands:

Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.

Work Conditions:

Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.

• The typical base salary range for this position is $60,000.00 - $92,000.00 annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is an hourly position paid bi-weekly.
