Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the Process Development Team to develop, optimize, and transfer processes to manufacturing.
• Develop and optimize surface processes including microblasting, chemical etching, chemical polishing, electropolishing, cleaning and surface quality standards.
• Use statistics and Design of Experiments (DOE) to characterize processes and support data-driven decisions.
• Perform root cause investigations and drive corrective actions.
• Analyze process and product data to identify trends, risks and improvements.

We are seeking a **Staff Surface Process Development Engineer** to join our dynamic team of industry leading experts to develop, optimize, and implement robust **Surface** processes for Nitinol medical devices.Responsibilities:* Work as part of Confluent’s multifunctional Process Development Team responsible for through process development, optimization, validation, and manufacturing transfer of medical device production processes.* Develop and optimize robust surface processes including microblasting, chemical etching, chemical polishing, electropolishing, cleaning and surface quality standards.* Use statistical analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE) to characterize processes, identify key parameters, optimize performance, and support data driven decisions.* Perform and support root cause investigations for process and product issues and drive appropriate corrective actions.* Analyze process and product data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.* Transfer developed processes to manufacturing sites, including documentation, training, validation support, and troubleshooting during implementation.* Collaborate with operators, technicians, engineers, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure processes meet product and customer requirements.* Create and maintain work instructions, visual standards, engineering studies, drawings, and other manufacturing documentation.* Support process validation and continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem solving principles.* Manage multiple technical priorities and independently drive assigned work to completion.Essential Qualities:* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.* Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently in a highly technical environment.* Self motivated and able to work independently with limited direction.* Strong analytical and problem solving skills.* Comfortable taking on new or unfamiliar technical challenges.* Capable of performing under the pressure of multiple competing deadlines while maintaining cooperative and constructive working relationships.Education and Experience:* Bachelor’s Degree in Materials, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering, or related discipline and a minimum of 5 years relevant engineering experience.* Proficient in MS Word and Excel.* Experience with Minitab or JMP desirable.**Confluent Medical Technologies** offers very competitive compensation and benefits and is proud to have a distinguished reputation throughout the medical device industry around the world!
