Job summary

Boone County Schools seeks a Staff Support Assistant at Burlington Elementary School to perform a variety of school-based administrative tasks. 8:15am–3:45pm, 180-day contract, and duties include data entry, attendance support, and office operations, with CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities cover answering phones, greeting families, data entry, clerical tasks, and collaboration with staff.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Typing speed of 35 words per minute.
  • Skill in filing, telephone and copy machine operations.
  • Ability to read and follow written directions.
  • One-year data entry experience on automated office equipment.
  • Experience handling confidential information.
  • Basic mathematics skills.
  • Ability to communicate and work with students and staff.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Be familiar with and follow written policies, procedures and directions from supervisor related to job responsibilities.
  • Assist in answering telephone and greeting and providing information to parents, students, staff and others.
  • Operate computer and peripheral equipment, utilizing various software as required to enter, revise and update information: generate records, reports, lists, scheduling and summaries as needed for assigned job.
  • Inputs all data to enroll students into the attendance and demographic data bank including, but not limited to; addresses, health records, lunch status and bus assignment.
  • Maintains logs, medication, records and files related to the school clinic.
  • Communicate with other departments and/or schools to compile information and prepare reports as required.
  • Provide technical information concerning policies and procedures of assigned attendance program or office according to established guidelines.
  • Compose and prepare correspondence requesting, providing or verifying information.
  • When assigned to the library, assist in implementing the circulation system of library materials and equipment.
  • When assigned to Site Based, attend and take minutes of Council meetings and keep Site Based manual up-to-date. Duplicate and distribute all written materials related to the Site Based Council to Council members and the Board of Education.
  • Assists school personnel in improving student attendance.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor.

TITLE: Staff Support Assistant
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Has a high school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate
  • Has keyboarding skills and the ability to type at a skill level of 35 words per minute
