Job summary

ExoTerra is seeking a Staff Supplier Quality Engineer to lead supplier quality strategy and programs. The role is based in Littleton, Colorado, onsite with up to 50% travel to supplier locations.

You will drive resolution of complex supplier quality issues and mentor engineers across programs. The ideal candidate brings 7+ years in aerospace supplier quality, deep knowledge of AS9100/ITAR, and proven leadership capabilities to develop processes and train teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Supplier Quality Engineering experience in aerospace/defense manufacturing.

ExoTerra is a world leader in solar electric propulsion systems and space exploration satellites. The company develops Hall Thrusters, propulsion modules, microsatellites and launch vehicle upper stages. We have been awarded multiple propulsion module and satellite contracts.

Position Summary

The Staff Supplier Quality Engineer serves as a technical leader across the supplier quality function, responsible for driving supplier quality strategy, developing processes, and leading complex supplier quality initiatives. The position reports to the Quality Manager and is part of the Quality Department based in Littleton, Colorado. This role is onsite in Littleton, Colorado with up to 50% travel to supplier locations.

Essential Functions

• Serve as technical supplier quality leader across multiple supplier categories and programs.


• Drive supplier quality strategy and performance improvement across the supply base.


• Lead resolution of the most complex supplier quality issues, escapes, and systemic problems.


• Develop and implement supplier quality processes, tools, and methodologies.


• Lead cross-functional teams on major supplier corrective action and continuous improvement initiatives.


• Provide final quality approval of supplier qualifications and ensure system requirements are complete.


• Develop training programs and mentor Supplier Quality Engineers at all levels.


• Represent Supplier Quality in program reviews, design reviews, and management meetings.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.


• 7+ years of Supplier Quality Engineering experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing.


• Demonstrated expertise managing complex supplier quality programs and driving systemic improvements.


• Experience developing supplier quality processes, procedures, and training materials.


• Strong understanding of AS9100, ITAR, and aerospace industry quality standards.


• Demonstrated leadership and mentorship abilities.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to leadership.


• Candidates must be able to comply with the federally mandated requirements of U.S. export control and ITAR compliance laws, which require proof that the candidate is a U.S. person.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field.


• ASQ CQE, CSQP, or equivalent professional certification.


• Experience with full product life cycle from R&D to Production and Post-Production.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position operates in a combination of office and manufacturing environments with regular interaction with production personnel, engineering teams, and suppliers. Travel to supplier locations, customer sites, and other company facilities is required. Exposure to manufacturing equipment, machining operations, and industrial environments requiring appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) may occur during supplier visits.
