Job summary

Schnabel Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Staff Structural Engineer to join our Marquette, Michigan practice. The ideal candidate will develop field and analytical skills, grow professionally, and contribute to a strong team.

Responsibilities include structural analysis, code-based design, and collaboration with architects and contractors. Travel may be required; EIT/PE licensure path encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 0–5 years of engineering experience in concrete, steel and wood design.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within a year of hiring.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Willingness to pursue a PE license.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering activities through all project phases: investigation, analysis, design and construction services.
• Conduct structural analysis and prepare detailed design calculations.
• Prepare and review construction drawings and technical specifications.
• Refer to codes (ASCE 7, ACI 318/350, Steel Design Manual, IBC) for loads and procedures.
• Assist with contractor submittals and questions during construction.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors and other design disciplines.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Coordinate with Boise and other Schnabel offices to balance workload.
