Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Structural Design Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT or Huntsville, AL and supports the Sentinel program.

What You’ll Get To Do
  1. Executing linear and nonlinear structural analysis scope using ABAQUS, Ansys, and/or FEMAP (w/Nastran solver).
  2. Executing analysis efforts to support deployable mechanical mechanisms, including finite element (static, transient, buckling, modal), fatigue, random vibration, weld and bolted joint analyses.
  3. Supporting test objective development for model verification/validation and qualification.
  4. Generating analysis documentation artifacts and preparing CDRL for customer deliveries.
  5. Supporting the ADP lead in analyzing mechanical equipment, components, products, and systems.
  6. Driving the analysis and development of the mechanical portion of the System Integration owned by the ADPs.
  7. Delivering required ADPs on time to meet program objectives.
  8. Integrating System Integration ADPs with various element teams to proactively eliminate disconnects.
  9. Identifying gaps within analysis and requirements and providing cost-effective, innovative solutions.
  10. Ensuring technical solutions and ADPs meet analysis, design requirements, and product specifications.
  11. Recommending actions for coordinated product solutions.
  12. Supporting digital transformation initiatives related to ADP development and release.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM + 12 years of experience, or 10 years with a Master's, or 8 with a PhD.
  • US Citizen with active DoD Secret Clearance within the last 6 years.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, engineering scheduling tools, and finite element analysis (ABAQUS, FEMAP/Nastran, or ANSYS).
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, MathCAD, or Excel for post-processing.
  • Effective technical communication skills.
Nice to Have
  • Advanced proficiency with ABAQUS, FEMAP, and ANSYS.
  • Experience with structural testing, seismic analysis, missile requirements, NX 3D models, CPLM, and JIRA.
  • Strong communication skills and experience leading/supporting engineering teams and working in Agile environments.

Salary Range: $118,600 - $206,000. Compensation factors include experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Benefits may include overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, and long-term incentives.
