Job summary

Google Inc. in New York seeks an experienced Staff Software Engineer to lead Site Reliability Engineering for Cloud Billing. You will drive reliability and performance of billing systems at scale, shaping architecture and tooling across Google Cloud.

You will collaborate with global teams, mentor engineers, and own critical systems’ availability, latency, and capacity planning while advancing automation and complex problem solving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
• 3 years of experience leading projects.
• Experience analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services—from inception and design, through to deployment, operation, and refinement.
• Manage availability, latency, scalability, and efficiency of Google services by engineering reliability into software and systems.
• Respond to and resolve emergent service problems; write software and build automation to prevent problem recurrence.
• Participate in service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.
• Review and influence ongoing design, architecture, standards, and methods for operating services and systems.
