Job summary

SK hynix memory solutions in San Jose is seeking a Staff/Senior/Principal eSSD Validation Engineer to design, implement, and run comprehensive PCIe/NVMe validation plans for enterprise SSD products. You will collaborate with SOC, FW, and HW teams to triage failures, analyze test results, and ensure product reliability.

A strong background in storage protocols and hands-on testing is required. Competitive compensation from $120,000 to $210,000 per year plus medical, dental, vision, life insurance

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on enterprise storage or semiconductor experience with a BS in computer engineering, EE, or related field; or 3 years with MS in related field.
• Proven experience with physical protocol analyzers and trace evaluation tools.
• Mastery of PCIe Gen5/6/7, NVMe 2.0+, NVMe-MI, SMBus/I2C.
• Python/C/C++ for hardware test automation and interacting with PCIe/config/firmware registers.
• Knowledge of Linux kernel and drivers is a plus.
• NAND knowledge and embedded firmware experience are beneficial.
• Strong system-level debugging skills and testing discipline.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and execute comprehensive test plans for PCIe and NVMe enterprise eSSDs.
• Manage test plans, monitor testing progress, identify issues and report findings to ensure specs and customer requirements are met.
• Triage failures and collaborate with SOC, FW, and HW teams to resolve issues.
• Perform test gap analysis to ensure product reliability and easy integration.
• Coordinate with FAE/CAE to address customer inquiries and maintain clear communication.
• Foster open communication to improve product quality and test coverage.

About the Team:

Our focus on system-level tests, feature validation, and meticulous bug analysis underpins the reliability of our products. Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and execute comprehensive test plans for PCIe and NVMe enterprise solid-state drives (eSSDs).
• Manage test plans, oversee the progress of testing, identify potential issues, and report findings to ensure compliance with design specifications, as well as with customer standards and requirements.
• Perform initial triage of failures and collaborate closely with other teams, including SOC, FW, and HW, to address and resolve failures with coordinated efforts.
• Perform test gap analysis to ensure seamless integration and reliability of the product
• Work with FAE/CAE teams to address customer inquiries, debug and resolve issues by maintaining clear communication and prompt responses.
• Foster open communication channels to facilitate efficient problem-solving and enhance the overall product quality.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands‑on enterprise storage or semiconductor experience and BS in computer engineering, EE, or related fields
  • OR 3 years of experience and masters in computer engineering, EE, or related fields.
• Proven experience with physical protocol analyzers and trace evaluation tools.
• Mastery of low-level storage protocols, including PCIe (Gen 5/6/7), NVMe 2.0+, NVMe-MI, and SMBus / I2C.
• Python / C / C++ for hardware test automation and interacting with PCIe configuration registers / firmware registers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Linux Kernel and drivers
• Knowledge of NAND
• Experience with Embedded Firmware
• Strong understanding of storage architectures and system-level debugging is also beneficial.

COMPENSATION: $120,000/yr - $210,000/yr
