Job summary

Boys Town National Research Hospital in Omaha, NE seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat infants, children, and adults with hearing loss or disorders of communication, feeding, or swallowing.

You will provide direct and consultative services in diverse settings, collaborate with medical and educational teams, and participate in training and mentorship while advancing clinical care. This role emphasizes patient-centered care and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
  • ASHA CCC or eligibility is required or must be eligible.
  • State licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure is required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct evaluations of auditory, communication, developmental, and/or academic skills for infants, children, and adults with hearing loss or communication disorders.
  • Provide direct and consultative habilitative and rehabilitative services across multiple settings (acute care, ICU, craniofacial, psychiatric, preschool, homes, outpatient).
  • Collaborate with medical, dietary, clinical, educational staff and families to ensure high-quality patient care.

Job description

Provide evaluation and intervention services for Boys Town National Research Hospital (BTNRH) patients, clients served through our outpatient clinics, and students in school-based services who have hearing loss or disorders of communication, feeding, or swallowing.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Provides evaluations of auditory, communication, developmental, and/or academic skills primarily for infants and children, or adults with hearing loss or disorders of communication, feeding, or swallowing.
  • Provides direct and consultative developmentally appropriate habilitative and rehabilitative treatment services to patients served in a variety of settings, which may include the acute care unit, intensive care unit, craniofacial clinical unit, psychiatric unit, preschool, patient's home environment or outpatient clinics in the domains of speech, language, cognition, voice, feeding, and swallowing.
  • Consults with medical, dietary, clinical, educational personnel, families, and other staff, including officers from other agencies as needed to ensure excellence in patient care.
  • Assists in recruitment, design, or implementation of selected clinical research projects. Prepares and maintains reports/records on patients, clients, and students.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of training programs/materials for families and professionals.
  • Participates in mentorship of graduate students and clinical fellows in the area of assessment and intervention for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing or who have disorders affecting communication, language, feeding, and swallowing.
  • Assists with identified quality improvement initiatives by monitoring records of individuals served in clinical and educational programs.
  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.
  • Promotes a positive team environment.
  • Willingly floats to other specialty clinics to fulfill staffing needs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's of Science or Master of Art degree in Speech/Language Pathology required.
  • Possession of, or eligibility for, appropriate state licensing required.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • (ASHA) after completion of Clinical Fellowship Year required.
  • Flexibility to provide on-call (continuously or rotationally) support, including evening, weekend, or holiday work if needed required.
