Job summary

Dutchess BOCES is seeking a Staff Specialist - Literacy Specialist to support school districts in improving outcomes for students with disabilities across four counties under a NYSED/OSE grant.

The position is full-time, 12-month, tenure track with full health benefits and a competitive salary. Qualifications include New York State Certification in Special Education, literacy credentials, and at least five years of K-12 teaching experience, with PD and collaboration preferred.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of teaching experience in K-12 as a special education teacher.
• Experience providing professional development and collaborating with educators is preferred.
• Current NYS Teaching Certification in Special Education is required.
• Literacy certification and SAS, SDA, SBL, or SDL certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate regional and in-district professional development on Literacy skills and related topics.
• Support training initiatives connected to the Blueprint for Improved Results for Students with Disabilities.
• Provide modeling and coaching for teachers on instructional strategies, data collection, and teaching/reteaching practices.
• Provide in-district support to educators across the 4 county region, including teachers and administrators.
• Attend NYSED-sponsored trainings and other professional development opportunities across New York State.

The Mid-Hudson Regional Partnership Center (RPC) at Dutchess BOCES is seeking a Staff Specialist to support school districts in improving outcomes for students with disabilities across a four-county region. This position is funded through a five-year NYSED/OSE approved grant serving Orange, Sullivan, Ulster, and Dutchess counties.

Qualifications, EXPERIENCE AND Competencies

• Current New York State Teaching Certification in Special Education required
• Literacy certification and SAS, SDA, SBL, or SDL certification preferred
• Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience in K12 as a special education teacher
• Demonstrated experience providing professional development and collaborating with educators is preferred
