Job summary

Kong Inc. seeks a Staff Solutions Engineer to be a trusted technical advisor at the crossroads of API management and AI connectivity. You will help customers architect secure, scalable API ecosystems and guide the transition into agentic AI within enterprise environments.

You will support field sales, run POCs, deliver demos of governance, and mentor junior SEs while influencing product direction with customer feedback and market insights.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software or solutions engineering in SaaS/open source environments.
• Proven track record owning complex enterprise deals with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring other SEs or technical teams.
• Hands-on with REST/GraphQL APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and API security patterns (OAuth2, OIDC, mTLS).
• Hands-on with AI-assisted development tooling such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex.

Responsibilities

• Support field sales by communicating Kong's API and AI value to customers.
• Conduct discovery to map customer requirements to Kong solutions.
• Own technical validation and stakeholder alignment during POCs.
• Deliver demonstrations of Kong’s API governance and AI capabilities.
• Lead technical workshops for API/AI evaluations and architect complex deals.
• Mentor junior SEs and contribute to product direction with customer feedback.
