Job description

Staff Solution Architect Specialist - NY Metro

Apply

The Advanced Architecture team is a highly strategic group within HashiCorp focused on defining and executing the most technically complex and impactful go-to-market plays across the HashiCorp and IBM portfolios. Comprised of senior technical leaders, this team operates as a technical innovation hub. Through cross functional collaboration and consultative engagement, we work backwards from our customers’ hardest challenges to drive integrated solutions that unlock transformational value.

Our initial focus is on enabling joint customer success through the integrations with IBM Hybrid Cloud, Security and AI solutions. Over time, this team will define and deliver scalable field plays and reference architectures that span the full HashiCorp portfolio and evolving IBM ecosystem, including RedHat hybrid cloud offerings.

What you’ll do (responsibilities)

As a Solution Architect Specialist, you will lead strategic technical initiatives that drive innovation and market impact across HashiCorp and IBM’s most important integration opportunities. You will operate as a cross-functional leader, prototyping integrated solutions, influencing product strategy, and developing reusable content and enablement that powers our Sales, SE, and Partner communities.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead Strategic GTM Plays: Define and lead new go-to-market motions that solve real-world customer problems and showcase the power of HashiCorp and IBM solutions working together.
  • Architect Complex Solutions: Design and build reference architectures, implementation frameworks, and validated integrations across multi-cloud, hybrid, and mainframe environments.
  • Bridge Strategy and Execution: Orchestrate cross-functional collaboration across Product, Sales, Engineering, Marketing, and Partner teams to drive execution of integration and GTM initiatives.
  • Drive Technical Thought Leadership: Serve as a principal technical advisor to field teams, partners, and customers—providing deep guidance on solution design, enterprise architecture, and transformation strategy.
  • Accelerate Innovation: Identify emerging market trends, integration patterns, and enterprise requirements to influence HashiCorp product strategy and roadmap alignment with IBM initiatives.
  • Create Strategic Content: Develop technical assets including reference architectures, solution briefs, implementation guides, and whitepapers that enable scale and establish technical leadership.
  • Input to Product Strategy: Synthesize market signals and customer feedback to influence product strategy and development roadmaps, particularly for enterprise-scale implementations and multi-product integrations.
  • Mentor and Enable: Provide technical mentorship across the Solutions Architecture and SE organizations; develop internal communities of practice and reusable playbooks.
  • Represent HashiCorp: Act as a visible technical leader, evangelizing HashiCorp’s solutions through public speaking, blog posts, and strategic customer engagements.
  • Drive Enterprise Outcomes: Partner with executive stakeholders to define transformation success criteria and demonstrate measurable business impact from integrated solutions.
What you’ll need (minimum qualifications)
  • Experience:
  • 7+ years in enterprise architecture, technical consulting, or pre-sales engineering roles.
  • 3+ years leading complex technical initiatives and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with technical integration efforts across multiple vendors or portfolios, preferably including IBM or RedHat.
  • Technical Leadership & Strategy:
  • Demonstrated success defining and executing go-to-market strategies for technical solutions.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority and lead through technical credibility.
  • HashiCorp Expertise:
  • Deep experience architecting and delivering solutions using at least two HashiCorp products (Vault, Terraform, Consul, Nomad) and/or related technology solutions.
  • Advanced understanding of multi-product integrations and enterprise-scale implementations.
  • Integration & Infrastructure Depth:
  • Experience integrating modern infrastructure tooling with legacy systems (e.g., mainframes) or complex hybrid architectures.
  • Practical experience with cloud and on-premise infrastructure, automation, and developer platform operations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Proven ability to collaborate across Product, Engineering, and Sales to bring new solutions to market.
  • Skilled in translating customer needs into technical and business solutions.
  • Communication & Enablement:
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Track record of developing content for technical and executive audiences—architecture diagrams, solution briefs, presentations.
  • Travel: Ability to travel as needed, including international engagements for strategic customers and partner alignment.
What's nice to have (preferred qualifications)
  • Experience building joint solutions and technical integrations with any of IBM Z, RedHat OpenShift, Apptio, Turbonomics, Ansible AAP.
  • Recognized thought leadership in infrastructure automation, platform engineering, or DevOps transformation (e.g., speaking engagements, publications).
  • Deep understanding of security and compliance frameworks in enterprise infrastructure.
  • Expert-level certifications across HashiCorp products and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Business acumen or MBA-level understanding of the intersection between technology and enterprise outcomes.
