Job description

Staff Software Test Engineer (Hybrid/Onsite)

The Senior SDET role is an ambassador of quality. You’ll be joining one of our Agile Product squads, which consist of a Software Engineering Manager, Software Engineers, and fellow SDETs, reporting into a Tribe QA Engineering Manager. You will play a key role in ensuring the team delivers efficient, effective, and scalable solutions for a wide range of problems. Your responsibilities include designing, developing, building, and maintaining QA solutions and processes, as well as coaching the team on QA best practices.

Essential Functions

  • Strong coding ability in Java and/or Ruby
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI
  • Experience integrating testing at various levels into CI/CD pipelines
  • Understanding of agile methods, BDD, ATDD, and TDD
  • Knowledge of Containerisation tools like Docker
  • Experience with AWS (public cloud)
  • Knowledge of Datadog
  • Experience in delivering high-quality solutions in microservices environments and cloud-native architectures
  • Designing and evolving test architecture for large-scale cloud solutions
  • Driving positive change towards Continuous Testing, DevOps, and Agile practices
  • Ability to challenge the status quo
  • Collaborating closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to determine acceptance criteria
  • Making tactical and strategic decisions based on incomplete or ambiguous information
  • Technical analysis of problems and solutions, leading discussions with stakeholders
  • Experience with contract testing, ideally with Pact/Pactflow
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes (EKS)
  • Experience with mocking tools such as Wiremock
  • Background in FinTech, Payments, or Financial Services is preferred

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or
  • At least 2 years with an Advanced degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or
  • 0 years with a PhD, OR
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or
  • 4+ years with an Advanced Degree, or
  • Up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
  • Strong API testing skills, ideally in Java
  • Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), Datadog, Wiremock, Pact/Pactflow, Kafka

Work Hours: Varies based on department needs.

Travel Requirements: 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: Office setting, sitting, standing, communication, operating office equipment.
