Solomon Page is seeking a Staff Software Engineer / Technical Lead to join a growing Trading Systems team building enterprise-grade trading solutions for wealth managers, asset managers, multi-family offices and institutional investors. This hands-on leadership role blends architecture, design, and coding to modernize a mission-critical platform.

You will mentor engineers across global teams, drive architecture decisions, and collaborate with Product Management to translate business requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Java backend and Spring Boot experience.
• Experience designing distributed systems and microservices.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, scalability, and performance.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
• Strong communication and cross-team collaboration in Agile environments.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Software Engineer / Technical Lead to join a growing Trading Systems team responsible for building and modernizing enterprise-grade trading solutions used by wealth management firms, asset managers, multi-family offices, and institutional investors. This is a hands-on leadership role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while mentoring others and helping define the future architecture of a mission-critical trading platform. The ideal candidate will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering Leadership, and global development teams to modernize and scale a platform that supports trading workflows across equities and fixed income securities. The role combines approximately 60% architecture, technical leadership, and system design with 40% hands-on software development.

• The comp for this role ranges from $175-$230k base plus bonus and equity.
• The company can not sponsor at this time only Green Card Holders or US Citizens will be considered.
• This job is hybrid 2-3 days a week in the office in New York City.

Responsibilities:

• Lead technical design and architecture initiatives for a sophisticated multi-asset trading platform.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable distributed applications using Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and AWS.
• Drive modernization efforts focused on scalability, performance, resiliency, and long-term maintainability.
• Work closely with Product Managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Support production systems and provide technical leadership for critical business initiatives.
• Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers across a globally distributed team.
• Define technical standards, engineering best practices, and development roadmaps.
• Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical design discussions.
• Help prioritize engineering efforts and establish technical direction for the team.
• Collaborate with engineers across the United States and India to successfully deliver strategic projects.
• Act as a technical leader who can both influence architecture and contribute high-quality code.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 8 to 20 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in Java and backend application development.
• Strong experience building applications using Spring Boot and RESTful APIs.
• Experience designing and implementing distributed systems and microservices architectures.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, scalability, and performance optimization.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical direction and collaborate across teams.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience developing trading, order management, portfolio management, rebalancing, execution management, or investment platforms.
• Financial services, wealth management, asset management, FinTech, or capital markets experience.
• Knowledge of equities, fixed income, trading workflows, order routing, portfolio construction, or investment operations.
• Experience building low-latency, concurrent, or multi-threaded systems.
• Experience supporting enterprise applications in production environments.
